The CEECAW Collective Bargaining Boost Workshop “Challenges for Organising and Collective Bargaining in Care, Administration and Waste Management sectors in Central Eastern European Countries” was held in Sofia on February 4. The event was organized by a team of IPS-BAS, led by Prof. Dr. Vassil Kirov. The event was attended by 34 people – on-site and online. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, nationally representative trade union and employer organizations, and academics. Four presentations were made by Bulgarian and foreign speakers on the development of collective bargaining in Bulgaria and Europe and recommendations for increasing its coverage, as well as the first results of the research conducted in Bulgaria by Prof. V. Kirov, prof. Rumiana Jeleva and Desislava Yaneva. The seminar ended with a round table discussion on “Development of Collective Bargaining and Implementation of the Directive on adequate minimum wages in Bulgaria”, during which the main obstacles to its development and implementation were discussed and the participants of the discussion shared their visions for the future of collective bargaining and social dialogue in Bulgaria.
