Scope
The journal Philosophical Alternatives (1992 – ), ISSN 0861-7899, is founded in 1945 under the name of Philosophical Thought.
The Philosophical Alternatives is peer-reviewed journal edited by the Institute for the Study of Societies and Knowledge at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. We invite contributions that address the following fields: Ontology, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, History of Philosophy, Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of History, Ethics, Aesthetics, Logic, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology. We also publish book reviews.
The journal Philosophical Alternatives is published six times per year:  February, April, June, August, October, December.

Peer-review information
The Philosophical Alternatives follows a double-blind reviewing procedure. 

Instructions for authors

The journal Philosophical Alternatives publishes original articles as well as book reviews. Articles should not exceed 20 standard pages including an abstract (300 words maximum), key words and a short biographical note (providing e-mail address and full name of the institution with which the authors are affiliated). Manuscripts should be typed single-spaced.  Times New Roman style with 12-point font size should be used. The abstract and the key words should be typed in 10-point font size. The biographical note should be typed in 12-point font size. Manuscripts should include all necessary footnotes, bibliographical references, tables. Footnote numbers should be sequential beginning with (1) and continue throughout the article. Articles may be submitted for publication in Bulgarian, English, German and French. All manuscripts must be submitted in a computer-file format compatible with Windows via e-mail to the address of the Editor.
For general rules on style, please refer to the Harvard Manual of Style http://libweb.anglia.ac.uk/referencing/harvard.htm. Regarding transliteration from Cyrillic, please use the Library of Congress Romanization style www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/roman.html. In-text citations should include the author’s last name, the year of publication and the page number in the following manner: (Hesse 1970: 124). The reference list should appear at the end of the manuscript. It should be ordered alphabetically by author’s family name.

 

All authors are in agreement about the content of the manuscript and its submission to the Journal. Manuscripts should not be previously published elsewhere either in part or in whole. Authors may not submit their manuscripts elsewhere while they are still under consideration for the Journal. If the manuscripts are accepted for publication, the authors agree to transfer copyright to the Publisher. No part of publications may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means without prior written consent of the journal Philosophical Alternatives.
