Workplace Innovation and Direct Employee Participation in Bulgaria

On February 27, 2025 in Sofia, a team of IPS-BAS, headed by Prof. Dr. Vassil Kirov, organised a workshop on “Workplace Innovation and Direct Employee Participation in Bulgaria” in the framework of BroadVoice project ((https://workplaceinnovation.eu/about-broadvoice/).

The aim of the seminar was to present information on the level of direct employee participation in Bulgarian enterprises, to discuss already existing practices and to share visions and recommendations for future development in this field. Various representatives from the academia, social partners and practitioners were invited. 19 people participated in the event. Prof. Dr. Vasil Kirov, Dr. Bagrian Malamin and Dessislava Yaneva presented the results of the Bulgarian research on direct employee participation, which included analysis of data from European surveys and analysis of four company case studies. The event ended with a discussion in which concrete examples from the practice of Bulgarian enterprises were shared and the perspectives for direct employee participation was addressed.

Prof. Rumyana Stoilova, Assoc. Prof. Petya Ilieva-Trichkova and Martin Velichkov, all from IPS-BAS, are the authors of a report published recently. The report uses data from major European research infrastructures – the European Social Survey (ESS), the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) and the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) – within the project Building a Resilient Europe | Infra4NextGen.
