PUBLIC POLICIES AND SOCIAL CHANGES
The department of Social Policies and Social Changes carries out scientific analyses of public policies. Its research activities are related to: monitoring, defining problems and assessing needs; assessment of the comparative advantages of policies; analysis of results, assessment of the social impact of, and research on, the social changes generated by policies. The department also strives to define conceptual and methodological problems in these fields. Insofar as public policies are closely connected to the notion of democracy as citizens’ or members’ participation in decision-making (in the organization or in society), the subjects of research include citizenship, social movements, and democratic political institutions.
The staff members of the department have produced numerous publications and have taken part in many European and national projects; they also train doctoral students and have many years of research experience in various universities.
